III. Discuss Town Manager Replacement Process
Discussion centered around the procedures for replacing the Town Manager. Mike Foye stated that the Town needs to advertise as soon as possible, because according to State Statues, the Selectmen can't give orders to the Town Manager's subordinates (M.R.S.A. 30-A § 2635). Bob stated that the Town could advertise on the MMA job bank free of charge. It was suggested by the public that the ad for the Town Manager state that the Town is looking for an interim/permanent Town Manager. Other suggestions included using a Town Manager from another town on a part-time basis. The public felt that committees should be formed for the sorting process, and the interviewing process. It was also suggested that Neal Allen be the facilitator for the committees. George made a motion to place ads for an interim/permanent
Town Manger in the Portland Sunday Telegram, Lewiston Sun Journal, MMA Job Bank, Maine Town & City Management Association's Professional Development Committee, GPCOG, and the Maine Chamber of Commerce Association. It was seconded by Ruth. Motion carried.
George made a motion to adjourn at 8:15 p.m. It was seconded by Bob. Motion carried.
