This invitation to Bid for the Town of Sebago’s Solid Waste / Recycling / Mix Demolition Transportation is based on a per haul cost. Solid Waste / Recycling / Mix Demolition Transportation for the Town of Sebago
The Town of Sebago is accepting proposals and bids for its solid waste / recycling / mix demolition hauling needs. The proposals are to include cost associated with the transportation of the Town of Sebago’s hauling needs. The Town of Sebago currently hauls (MSW) Municipal Solid Waste to (MERC) Maine Energy Recovery Company located in Biddeford. The Town currently hauls its Recycling Product to FCR Goodman a division of Casella Waste Systems located in Scarborough, and the Town currently hauls its Mix Demolition to Planet Recycling and Transfer located in Gorham. The Town of Sebago provides hauling containers for all products needing transport. This invitation to Bid for the Town of Sebago Solid Waste / Recycling / Mix Demolition Transportation is based on a per haul cost.
Minimum specifications-MSW
Ø To be able to haul a (40) forty yard compactor container, weighing up to 12 tons. The Town of Sebago currently uses a four yard compactor and owns (2) two 40 yard containers for MSW use.
Ø Transport is to be at least once a week during winter season, and at least two trips during summer season.
o Winter Season is defined as the months October thru May
o Summer Season is defined as the months May thru October
Ø Transporter is to comply with all commercial trucking regulations and provide general liability and Workers Compensation Insurance at State of Maine minimums with the Town of Sebago named as additional insured.
Ø Transporter will be required from time to time to make extra hauls (especially around the Christmas holiday) and will provide a “per extra trip” cost as part of the contract.
Ø Contract length is 5-years.
Minimum specifications – Recycling
Ø To be able to haul (40) forty yard compactor container, weighing up to (10) tons. The Town of Sebago currently uses a (2) two yard compactor and owns (2) two 40 yard containers for single stream recycling use.
Ø Transport is to be at least twice a month during winter season, and at least once a week during summer season.
o Winter Season is defined as the months October thru May
o Summer Season is defined as the months May thru October
Ø Transporter will be required from time to time to make extra hauls (especially around the Christmas holiday) and will provide a “per extra trip” cost as part of the contract.

Ø To be able to haul a (40) yard open top container. The Town of Sebago currently uses and owns (1) forty yard open top container.
Ø Transport is to be at least once a week during winter season, and at twice a week during summer season.
o Winter Season is defined as the months October thru May
o Summer Season is defined as the months May thru October
Ø Transporter will be required from time to time to make extra hauls (especially around the Christmas holiday) and will provide a “per extra trip” cost as part of the contract.
Ø Transporter is to comply with all commercial trucking regulations and provide general liability and Workers Compensation Insurance at State of Maine minimums with the Town of Sebago named as additional insured.
Ø Contract length is 5-years.
Submission Information
Proposals shall be submitted to the Sebago Town Office, PO Box 406 Bridgton Road, Sebago, ME 04029 no later than 1:30 PM on February 29, 2008. Submissions shall include the name, mailing address, physical address, telephone number, fax number (if applicable), e-mail address (if applicable), contact name and title of the bidder. The RFP shall clearly state what equipment the contractor owns or intends to use to fulfill the contract, the total cost per haul (One haul consist of pick up and return of the Town’s Container in the same business day) of the contract (segregated by MSW transport, Recycling Transport, and Mix Demolition). Additional information may be attached to the bid submission sheet and is encouraged. Submissions shall also include at least three references from other
municipalities/commercial entities as the contractor sees fit.
The Sebago Board of Selectmen reserves the right to accept or reject any and all submissions. The submissions will be opened and read aloud at the Town Office meeting room on Friday, February 29, 2008 at 1:30 PM. Selectmen will analyze the bids on March 4, 2008 at their regularly scheduled Board of Selectmen meeting. At that time the Board may decide to wait, or may decide to make a decision at that time.
Other
The new contract will commence on July 1, 2008 and terminate on June 30, 2014. A formal contract arrangement enumerating the proposal will be entered into between the town and the successful contractor prior to the effective date of the contract. This contract will require either a surety bond or an irrevocable letter of credit from a financial institution assuring the town that the contractor has the financial resources necessary to execute the contract.
