2011/02/23 Minutes
Sebago Fire and Rescue Building Task Force
Minutes from Meeting of February 23, 2011

Meeting opened at 6:08 pm at the Sebago Town Offices.

In attendance were Jim Smith, Carl Dolloff, Phil Strike and Allen Crabtree from Sebago.  Fire Chief Brent Libby was there from Standish.  Absent were Ken Littlefield, Alan Greene, Tim Smith, Ann Farley, and Anita Chadbourne.

1.      Site Selection – Jim has an appointment to meet with the DOT to get their approval of the sight distance from the proposed site on Route 114.  Sight distance for heavy trucks is key.  If the distance is not sufficient the access driveway will have to be changed.   Jim will speak with Tom Beagle from Shaw Brothers when he returns from vacation and will discuss with him the 20-year finance option as well as build-to-suit, lease-to-own, and other options they may have.  The group asked that Jim invite Beagle and the Shaw Brothers to our next Task Force meeting so that we can discuss these options with them.

Assignment – Jim will invite representatives of the Shaw Brothers to our next meeting.  In the interim Jim will meet with the DOT representative and if any changes in the site are necessary will have that information for our next meeting.

2.      Participation by Standish – We discussed Standish’s sample agreement and made changes to the termination clause, the amount of building upkeep (heat, electricity) that Standish would pay towards the Sebago station where their engine is stored; and Standish’s plans for replacement with a newer engine.  Brent will send a revised agreement to Jim who will present it to the Board of Selectmen at their March 1 meeting as an information item.

Assignment – Brent will send a copy of the revised agreement to Jim.

3.      Replacement of Tank 2 – No progress on resolving this issue.  Information on the warranty is still needed, and very soon as the town budget process and CIP planning needs to know how much to budget for Tank 2’s replacement.

Assignment – Jim is to locate the warranty or get confirmation from the manufacturer.

4.      Building Design and Bids – Jim will continue to discuss preparation of conceptual drawings, starting with the drawings submitted by the Lewiston architect for the Station 2 sited building.  .

Assignment – Jim to follow up with an RFP for the architect.

Next meeting of the task force is on Tuesday, March 8, at 6pm at the Sebago town offices.  Meeting was adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
