Excerpt from ANNUAL TOWN MEETING Minutes
JUNE 5, 1999

Greetings:

In the name of the State of Maine, you are hereby required by law to notify and warn the inhabitants of the Town of Sebago qualified by law to vote in Town affairs, to meet at the Town Hall in said Town of Sebago at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, the 5th day of June 1999 to act on the following:

Article 1.              To choose a Moderator to preside at said meeting.

Article 31.     What action does the Town wish to take in regards to funding the Fire Station Reserve Account?  Fire Department Requests. ~Raise and appropriate $10,000.

A motion was made to raise appropriate from surplus $10,000 to fund the Fire Station Reserve account, it was second, a vote was taken and the motion passed.

Article 32.~~~~~What action does the Town wish to take in regards to forming a committee to look at the feasibility of combining the East and North Sebago Fire Stations? ~The committee will consist of the Fire Chief, a firefighter, Rescue Chief, a selectman, and a citizen at large and expending up to $5,000 to conduct studies.  Fire Department Requests. ~Appropriate from Surplus $5,000.

A motion was made to accept the article was written, it was second, discussion followed.  Mrs. Nason, a resident brought in a letter showing that insurance rates in those areas would rise as the result of this change (a copy of the letter is at the end of these minutes).  A motion was made that no funding be available for this committee, it was second, a vote was taken and the second motion passed.  A motion was made to add the Town Manager to this committee., it was seconded, a vote was taken and the amendment passed.  The original motion was then to form a committee consisting of the Fire Chief, a fire fighter, Rescue Chief, a selectmen, a citizen at large, and the Town Manager to conduct studies to look at the feasibility of combining the East and North Sebago Fire Stations, expending no funds., it was second a vote was taken and the motion passed.   

At this time a motion was made to take Article 64 out of order., it was second, a vote was taken and the motion passed.

Article 64.~~~~~What action does the Town wish to take in regards to closing down the North Sebago Fire Station as recommended by Fire Chief, Alan Greene?

A motion was made to table this article, it was second, a vote was taken and the motion passed.
