Request for Bids - Sebago Elementary School Future
Public Notice
Town of Sebago
Invitation to Bid

The Town of Sebago is currently accepting bids to develop and evaluate options involved with the potential future transfer of the Sebago Elementary School from Maine School Administrative District (MSAD)  #61 to the Town of Sebago, including the options of methods to keep the school open as well as developing alternate uses for the facility if it were closed.  As part of this contract the successful bidder will conduct an extensive public outreach program and develop potential costs and a timeline for each option.  The successful bidder will work closely with the Sebago Board of Selectmen and Sebago Planning Board and will present recommendations to them at the conclusion of the contract.

Background - In an attempt to deal with increasing costs, declining state revenues, and projections of stable or declining student enrollment over the coming years, the Facilities Committee to the School Board for the Maine School Administrative District (MSAD) #61 has identified areas to reduce costs over the next several years.  This involves, among other things, consolidating services and closing school buildings to increase efficiency.   MSAD61 includes the towns of Bridgton, Naples, Casco and Sebago.

Buildings that belonged to the towns before MSAD 61 was formed are offered back to the towns when the school district no longer has a need for them as school buildings
The Sebago Elementary School (SES) has been identified by the School Board to be returned to the Town of Sebago potentially as early as the 2014-2015 school year.

An informational meeting will be held for prospective bidders to provide them an opportunity to tour the Sebago Elementary School on Wednesday, April 20, 2011.  Bidders should meet at the Sebago Town Offices, 406 Bridgton Road, Sebago, ME 04029 at 1:00 pm.  Bidders are asked to contact the Town Manager Jim Smith at (207) 787-2751 (e-mail townmanager@townofsebago.org) to let him know if they intend to participate so that arrangements can be made with the School Principal.  Attendance at this informational meeting by bidders is not mandatory but the Town will offer only this one informational meeting and tour of the school.

Bids are due in the Sebago Town Office by 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 13, 2011. ~An original and five copies of the bid package should be submitted.  An electronic copy of the bid package may also be sent to the Town Manager in addition, but it is not a substitute for hard copies to be submitted.
