Meeting opened at 6:05 pm at the Sebago Town Offices.
In attendance were Task Force members Jim Smith, Tim Smith, Carl Dolloff, Ann Farley, and Allen Crabtree. Task Force members Alan Greene, Anita Chadbourne, and Phil Strike were absent. Fire Chief Brent Libby was there from Standish. Fire Chief Ken Littlefield was there from Sebago. Guests present were Architect Jeff Fleming and Phil Lowe.
Minutes of meetings, reports and town meeting notes going back to 1996 are now posted on the town website and members were encouraged to read them to get a better understanding of the effort that has been made for the last 15 years on a new fire and rescue building.
1. Power Point Presentation – Allen Crabtree did a dry run of the draft power point presentation prepared for the Public Hearing. There were a number of comments:
a. EMS building
Should pursue rental or sale of the EMS building if the new building is built
A use suggested for the EMS building was for showers, kitchen, equip storage for public works. The water at the public works building is not potable; it is at EMS.
Jeff suggested contacting a realtor for estimates of rental income for EMS building.
b. Presentation comments
Bids for the fire and rescue building construction may well come in lower than estimate.
Include the annual cost in the presentation – simplify.
Include a new slide showing net costs.
c. Station 2
Phil to provide estimates for renovation of Station from his contractor contact
Include a list of cost estimate details – work needed
Jim – when cost of renovations exceed 40% cost of new construction you shouldn’t renovate.
d. CIP savings
Include savings to CIP if Engine 3 not replaced once new station built.
Include payoff for 15-year note on building vs. 10-year state bond costs
Allen will make these changes and present the power point at the public hearing. All Fire and EMS members are encouraged to attend the Public Hearing scheduled for October 25, 2011, 7pm at the town offices.
There will be an Open House at Station 2 on Sunday, October 30, 2011 from 1 till 3 pm.
Meeting was adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
