INTENT TO REOPEN SCHOOLS 2021-22
Updated 8/25/21

The School Committee voted to approve the plan on August 24, 2021.

School Operations
• School will open for in person learning for all students on September 1, 2021.
• Remote Instruction will not be offered as a learning alternative.
• Parents will complete and send their child to school with his/her daily Health Check Ticket. (These are the same tickets used during the 2020-2021 school year.)
• Masks will be worn indoors by students, staff and visitors.
• Students will move among classrooms as they did pre-COVID.
• Physical distancing in classroom spaces and common areas to the extent possible.
• Field trips will resume.
• Visitors will be welcome in school.
• Remote IEPs will be allowed provided it is agreed to by all participants.
• The school will continue to use hand washing and sanitation protocols.

Vaccinations and Quarantine
• The district encourages vaccination for all staff and students who are eligible. Our school nurse can provide vaccination information.
• Staff vaccination data will be collected monthly to meet Department of Education requirements. This information will be collected and reported without identifying staff per DOE guidelines.
• Contact tracing will continue if a student or staff member contracts COVID-19.

Pool Testing
• Schoolwide Pool Testing will be implemented as a mitigation strategy to reduce transmission, particularly among asymptomatic individuals.
• Pool Testing requires a 30% weekly participation rate of students and staff at minimum.
• Participation in Pool Testing is voluntary and consent forms will be sent to families in August.
• Staff and students who participate in Pool Testing will not need to quarantine, except for the positive individual.
• Students who do not participate in Pool Testing will need to quarantine if they are identified as a close contact.
• Staff are considered Essential Workers. Therefore, those who do not participate in Pool Testing will be allowed to continue to work provided they have no symptoms, quarantine outside of school, and are tested regularly during the “quarantine” period.
• Additional information is available at https://www.maine.gov/doe/covid-19/toolkit

Transportation
• Buses will operate at full capacity with masks worn by all drivers and passengers. (This is a federal mandate.)
• We will continue with the parent drop-off and pick-up process used during the 2020-2021 school year. Contact the office if you need a tag for your mirror. Tag numbers from last year can be used again this year.

Review of Reopening Plan
• The Sebago School Committee will review and approve any revisions to this plan on a regular basis.

Note: These opening guidelines are subject to change depending on new guidelines and mandates received from the Maine DOE or CDC after this date.
