In Sebago we believe that reducing our carbon footprint should be everyone's concern. That’s why as a town we are reimagining our energy future and repurposing our electrical expenses by investing in clean, renewable energy.

Since October of 2018 we have stepped up our sustainable practices by offsetting a portion of our electrical usage with solar panels. We worked with Portland, ME-based ReVision Energy to install a 57.6 kilowatt grid-tied solar electric system.

When the sun is shining, the 180 solar panels on the roof of Sebago's salt shed produce electricity that is either used in real-time by the town, or fed back to the grid where it benefits our community, and earns us a credit. Each year, the system will generate roughly 69,670 kilowatt-hours (kWhs) of electricity, enough to cover 96% of our annual municipal electric load, and offsetting the equivalent of over 127,000 miles driven in a gas-powered car. We’re helping to cut down on carbon emissions even further with an EV charger at our town offices!
